Mourn for the Dead, Fight for the Living
@ Pedestrian Bridge | As we watch the Israeli government’s genocide in Gaza, West Bank and Lebanon intensify in its scope and horror, our hearts are shredded that we have reached the one year mark of this horrific nightmare, alongside 76 years of ongoing Nakba.Join Jewish Voice for Peace – RI from 1pm – 2pm on Sunday, October 6th, as we mourn the thousands of Palestinian and hundreds of Lebanese martyrs killed by the Israeli government and military this past year, and recommit ourselves to fight for the living. We will perform a public “Tashlich” ritual, customary during Rosh Hashanah, to take collective responsibility for our complicity, as Americans whose government funds the bombs used by Israel, in the ongoing genocide of Palestinians. In song, prayer, testimony, and embodied ritual, we will bring our communal heart to the water to support our practice of “teshuva/returning” in service of a Free Palestine. We will be inviting collective action as part of the ritual and offering opportunities for folks to get involved with JVP-RI’s local divestment campaign. All faiths and no faiths welcome.
